Hello, you probably got here from our Christmas letter! Probably you are scratching your head about some of the short quotes we added in there, and at least one of them is probably causing you a bit of either nostalgia or annoyance. But I digress; let’s go to the answers.
The category for the phrases is: Theme Songs from TV Sitcoms of the 1970s. OK, now you know when Leslie and I grew up!
“Baby, if you've ever wondered, wondered whatever became of me. . . .” is from WKRP in Cincinnati.
“Well we’re movin’ on up, to the East Side (coast). . . .” is from The Jeffersons.
“On your mark, get set and go now, gotta dream and we just know now we're gonna make that dream come true.” is from Laverne and Shirley.
“Come and knock on our door, we’ve been waiting for you. . . . ” is from Three’s Company.
“We had a dream, we'd go travelin' together, we'd spread a little lovin' then we'd keep movin' on. . . .” is from The Partridge Family.
If now you have a craving to actually hear these songs rather than just read the lyrics, I found this website that has a lot of good 70s nostalgia. It’s worth a trip to let the baby boomer within enjoy a bit of the past.
(I find it notable, by the way, that the letter ‘g’ was often omitted from theme song lyrics during that decade: movin’, gotta, gonna, travelin’ , lovin’,. I’ll leave it to your interpretation as to what that actually means.)
Merry Christmas and happy puzzling!
